EMDR Intensives
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a therapy that has been researched for treating trauma. The therapy allows a person to process painful emotions, experiences, and beliefs about oneself while using bilateral stimulation of the brain through eye movements, tactile sensations, and/or auditory cues. The bilateral stimulation allows the brain to process information more rapidly. EMDR is traditionally provided in weekly outpatient therapy sessions ranging from hour long appointments up to 90-minutes. Intensives provide the same treatment over an extended period of time in order to accomplish treatment goals faster.
